While others are talking of hip clothing, Madurai’s own fashion designer Mamta Formra has gone back to baswics this season. Inspired by local crafts, her collections is full of Madurai cotton, sungudi, raw silk and chinnalapatti handprints. Mamta’s style mantra for the season is ‘fusion’.

Showing an elegant pink ensemble, she says, “The material is a combo of Italian chiffon and Madurai raw silk, upon whixh I have done Rajasthani Leheriya and gave it a western frock silhouette.”
