ATHINIK , was started in the year 1995, to promote sarees, of Indian weavers, through exhibitions. Athinik promoters, worked hard with them, to innovate new colours & designs, which were very well received in the market & the weavers, had direct access to markets & interface with clients to identify, their taste for sarees & fashion, which naturally resulted in building their capacities.
Soon, ATHINIK, started travelling over seas & found very good markets, with the Indian, diaspora in the USA, the collection increased from sarees, to ethnic & modern dresses , Indian jewellery & accessories, All items being curated by ATHINIK, through weavers, women entrepreneurs & local artisans, who started getting better prices for their products in US dollars.
These exhibitions, besides different states of India, were held in Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle & even the Caribbean Islands. ATHINIK, soon became an Indian Fashion Brand & was welcomed across the country & many other countries.
The promoters, after 2010 diversified, into other businesses. How ever the passion, for creating new designs & promoting weavers & women, surfaced again & ATHINIK was relaunched, as : By the Women , For the Women & Of the Women !
